Meet Your Coach
Kat Schultz, MSW
(they/she)
Kat is the Program Manager and DBT Peer Educator at Online DBT Skills. They completed a DBT program in 2015 which helped them build their life worth living. Kat also wrote the content for the revamp of DBTSelfHelp.com and continues to manage that website. Kat has a Masters Degree in Social Work.
Kat's approach to coaching is supportive, nonjudgmental, and queer and neurodivergent affirming. They look to meet you where you're at and support you in getting where you want to go at your own pace. They have lived experience with navigating emotional dysregulation and chronic illness and exploring their identity related to queerness, gender, and disability.
When not working, you can find them watching movies, reading graphic novels, listening to audiobooks, or getting into nature. They live in Los Angeles with their partner and their cat named Bug, who loves to join in on DBT sessions.

How do DBT skills coaching work?
DBT Skills Coaching is a regular meeting with social worker, DBT group facilitator and DBT graduate Kat Schultz, MSW. You'll first create an action plan addressing your Target Behaviors (TBs) that you want to decrease or increase. Then you'll discuss skills to help achieve your goals. You can also plan for difficult situations or troubleshoot specific skill issues.

When is DBT Coaching not appropriate?
If you are in crisis or an immediate risk to yourself or others, DBT skills coaching is not appropriate as it doesn't offer crisis support. If you're in crisis, seek immediate support and a higher level of care. Additionally, if you are unfamiliar with DBT skills, DBT coaching is not for you. You must already have DBT skills under your belt to utilize coaching.
What is the cost of DBT skills coaching?
Coaching is sold in packages, so clients have the time to identify target behaviors and work on goals. Coaching can be scheduled weekly, biweekly, or even monthly.
